What is AI in Trading?

While AI may seem like a modern breakthrough, its role in trading has been evolving for years, notably through Expert Advisors (EAs).

Expert Advisors are automated trading systems that operate on platforms like tradingView, and MetaTrader 4 or 5. These systems use pre-programmed algorithms to identify trading opportunities and execute orders based on defined rules. In essence, EAs function as AI tools, mimicking human decision-making but at far greater speeds and with better accuracy. Unlike human traders, EAs can process massive amounts of market data in real-time, recognize patterns, and execute trades instantly—critical advantages in volatile markets where milliseconds can determine profit or loss.

What’s driving the next wave of EA development is the role of AI platforms like ChatGPT. Traditionally, developing or refining an EA required advanced coding skills, significant time, and often considerable cost. Now, AI platforms can assist traders by writing, editing, and optimizing the code that powers these systems. For instance, traders with basic knowledge can describe their desired strategy, and AI tools like ChatGPT can quickly generate the corresponding code.

This advancement significantly lowers the barriers to entry, enabling traders to create more complex EAs faster, cheaper, and more efficiently than ever before.
